brookings tells its failed symbolic experiment to "wrap that isht up"!

WaPo | After making fighting income inequality an early focus of his second term, President Obama has largely abandoned talk of the subject this election year in a move that highlights the emerging debate within the Democratic Party over economic populism and its limits.

During the first half of this year, Obama shifted from income inequality to the more politically palatable theme of lifting the middle class, focusing on issues such as the minimum wage and the gender pay gap that are thought to resonate with a broader group of voters.

The pivot is striking for a president who identified inequality as one of his top concerns after his reelection, calling it “a fundamental threat to the American Dream, our way of life and what we stand for around the globe.”

The shift also underscores the ongoing dispute between the Democratic Party’s liberal and moderate wings over how to address inequality issues. Whereas the left takes a more combative tone, seeking to focus on the income gap and what it views as the harmful influence of big business and Wall Street, more centrist forces in the party favor an emphasis on less-divisive issues.

White House officials say the change in the president’s rhetoric was driven by a desire to focus not just on the problem — economic inequality — but also on solutions that could address it. Others close to the White House contend that the move is at least partly driven by Democratic polling that found that talking about income inequality does not register strongly with the American public and risks accusations of class warfare.

There is such thing as income inequality..there is only income marginalization. Economic shifts and global markets are not as accommodating for socializing Americans with "equality" versus subsidizing emerging markets offering cheaper rates. The Democrats are grappling with this direction urban america while the Republicans are totally clueless - North Carolina has been wiped the f*ck out and marginalized in the furniture manufacturing industry by China. I remember some cute story about some guy in Georgia selling chop sticks to China - Chinese entrepreneurs shifted investments internally and wiped out and marginalized the cute chopstick story in a few months. And let's not even talk about solar energy where Obama has his own ass handed to him by the Chinese after subsidizing a solar power company. The President of all people should know by now as Solara been wiped out and GM profitable due to selling IP to China.

So with that said, what are the Democrats proposing when you already provided the fact we are seeing peak America?

I think what concern me most was Hillary Clinton primary campaign and the people she had on her team who were engaged in practices to marginalize the black vote to take on President Obama. It seems the African-American Democrats failed to explore further into the people back then who are waiting to come back in now and continue on their agenda. President Obama right now is a lame duck - while I applaud him for his leadership in getting private corporations to raise the minimum wage and other social responsibility activities, the greater African-American population and many of the middle class that followed him is going to find themselves highly marginalized by both the extreme wing in the Democratic and Republican party

Republicans are too busy trying to keep bigots on board to have any ideas. All they're doing is adjusting their dog whistles.

Democrats don't want to follow evolution's course. The times have changed and their failure to adjust means it's time to let new people in. They're so damn stupid to jump into bed with the Clintons. Hillary was out worked and outclassed in 2008. In 2016 she's eight years older. She's using the media, the party bosses, and corporate funding to prop her sorry ass up. We saw how that worked for Mitt Romney. Hillary's also going to count on the white privilege of some feminists out there.

It really all depends on what Black people do. Black folks support the establishment candidate starting out. I remember the support didn't come for Obama until he won Iowa. Running up behind the Clintons at this point would be an act of self hate and cowardice that no other group would do if they were treated the way the Clintons have treated Black folks. And I bet money that those bitch ass 'leaders' would encourage the fuckery(it's a consistent pattern). And fuck Phil Griffin. He's turned his channel into the cheerleading corner for the establishment democrats.

I'll slap the Soul Glo off Toure for coming at the audience with that punk sell out bullshit.

Anti-black, anti-immigrant, anti-muslim, control women's reproductive prerogatives - conservative right-wing republican males and their collaborators are pursuing an endogamous, pre-emptive, killer-ape strategy to maximize their exclusive access to resources and reproductive prospects. The pro-life catholics and pro-life bibtards are in the vanguard of all of this hot-mess, with only the illiterate peasants (central america) pretending that any of that gas is intended for them.

It's not the narcissistic predatory stance of the third reich, but give it time....,

CLEARLY you have not read the latest position paper from the new 'Senior Fellow" at the "Center For American Progress" - nor noted the MENTHOLATED BLACK MEDIA PRESSGANG operatives who are syndicating it WITH NOT ONE DAMNED SENTENCE OF SCRUTINY.

Ben Jealous suggests that the Americanized Negro INVEST HIS VALUABLES by VOTING AGAINST THE TEA PARTY IN THE SOUTH, allowing PROGRESSIVISM to spread in "Dixie".

He is TOO CORRUPT to note WHY the Negro is moving out of Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago. He ONLY mentions that they are moving to "The Black Belt".

YOU DON'T NEED to tell an Americanized Negro that you "Feel His Pain".
YOU ONLY need to LATCH upon his OFFENDEDNESS and OPPORTUNISM - making him believe that if he FIGHTS FOR THE PROGRESSIVES against the WHITE RIGHT WING ENEMY that THIS TIME he will be DEVELOPED because the enemy that prevented the last period of political opportunism from working to lift up the Negro will be marginalized.

WERE IS THE CALLS TO REGULATE THE EMBEDDED CONFIDENCE MEN FROM THEIR ACCESS TO THE "BLACK COMMUNITY'S CONSCIOUS NUCLEUS" where our VALUABLES are stored?

What defect of logic and living memory fact prevents you from acknowledging that the white right wing enemy was in fact a violent and existential enemy a mere 50 years ago - and in consequence of which fact, folks took what allies they could find to overcome that clear and present danger? What defect of logic and living memory fact prevents you from acknowledging that the white right wing enemy has had to take his animus underground and into the closet and perpetrate via different means, but toward the same existential ends?

That said, whatever failings of policy and politics have come to pass in the first generations of civil rights in America are minimized in the overarching context of simply getting the enemy's boot off the collective black neck.
