cities should all be so densely-packed and gorgeous

I would have thought you'd had a belly full of that backward and pestiferous trailer-park you've called home lo this past half-century after you spent time with your father-in-law in Bermuda. Now that you've been reminded exactly what a first-world city in a first world country looks and feels like, how long before you make best efforts to pull up stakes and exit that hell hole you complain about almost daily?

@CNu - Thinkin' of relocatin' to the 'newly-legalized environment...' ???

Seattle is similar but air quality bit worse than Vancouver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwib5-X5pvg No state income tax but they get you with the property tax. Weather benign, no serious tornados, but there are quake and volcanic risks. Healthy economy, major Boeing manufacturing, Microsoft-Costco-Starbucks-Adobe headquarters plus major container shipping import center for all that Asian-manufactured stuff used-to-be-made in the USA and associated rail-trucking focal point. No freshwater shortage so far....

lol, you need to put the pipe down http://youtu.be/2Bls1KKDwmo - that said, I have to give it to you and your countrymen on the long-game dynamics. Quiet as it's kept in the U.S., the sheer GDP of the old-commonwealth states make everything we are and everything we've done seem like small potatoes by comparison. That whole sea-faring, lovely coastal world-wide conquest thing worked out fabulously for you cats - as compared and contrasted with the endogamous, puritanical, two-inch punisher type isht that took root here, and which continues to dominate U.S. politics to this very day.

In historical and demographic terms, the U.S. seems quite literally where Great Britain dumped its incorrigible, soft-headed, scared, cannon-fodder losers, and good riddance!

lol, what, and become your token negro friend? Not likely. Better to go whole hog and humbly exit the trailer-park once and for all. If the mood strikes, one can always gas up the hybrid, take a two-hour drive down I-5, and pick up whatever commodities are being proffered down in the trailer-park http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/british-columbia/legal-marijuana-now-on-sale-in-washington-state/article19512627/

If you're gonna upgrade, then upgrade. Makes no sense to trade one slum for another...,

You make Americans sound so hopeless.

Recently Vancouver had the highest rate of new HIV infections in North America

http://www.cfenet.ubc.ca/publications/hivaids-vancouver-british-columbia-growing-epidemic

The ward opened during the peak of Vancouver's HIV/AIDS epidemic in February 1997, when approximately one person was dying each day.

As of 2013, only 40 people in B.C. were identified as living with the disease that can develop from the HIV virus without medical care, according to the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

There was an estimated 11,972 cases of people infected with HIV in 2012 in B.C., with more than half getting active treatment.

@CNu "...and become your token negro friend?"
No, no, no...as BD has previously stated, we are in the 'hood. As about half the honkeys & crackers here did, we told the block-busting RE agents to shove it, 25-years ago.....

Vancouver would be a great place to live (in the summer, anyway—the nearly permanent winter cloud deck is often 1000 feet or lower), as long as you don't have to drive. Those ignorant, clueless Asian drivers are an absolute menace.

Though I could be mistaken, I suspect our host was witness to levels of succulent and voluptuous diversity the likes of which his poor, tired eyes have not seen in decades. Notice how quickly he focused in on "puritanical endogamy" vs exactly what? Yes, quite...,

Methinkst monk CNu visited the full cosmopolitan booty-shorts buffet - and is simply eager to go running back for more.

Yes, it's best to live in one of the cosmopolitan areas. I understand how ex cons feel when they leave prison.
