GE/TEPCO lowered the Fukushima coast by 10 metres to make it cheaper to pump cooling water to the proposed power plant.
GE/TEPCO built the power plant over an aquifer and on ground with a fault line present
GE/TEPCO built the basements below sea level.
The quake diverted the underground river of the aquifer through the basements
Being below sea level the emergency generators and switchgear were doomed to be flooded.
Cooling failed, the reactors melted down, the 70 holes in each reactor bottom (design of control rod entry) meant fuel and water leaked from bottom of reactors.
GE/TEPCO decided to put emergency generators and switchgear in basements. to save money in 1966.
400 tons of water must be poured into reactors per day to keep them cool.
This water enters the underground river and flows to the sea.
Fuel is too radioactive to approach and remove and will remain so for years.
The flow of radioactive water to the sea will continue.
No nuclear expert on earth knows the disposition of the fuel inside and outside the reactors.
Japan and the world must live with GE/TEPCO's beady-eyed fuckery for a long time to come.
There is insufficient knowledge and no technology which will stop the consequences of GE/TEPCO's beady-eyed fuckery within my lifetime.
GE/TEPCO has issued a river of lies and withheld a mountain of information for the past 2.5 years about the monumental extent of its obscene anthropocene fuckery.
GE/TEPCO is spouting abject nonsense about freezing the soil to stop the flow of water to the sea
GE/TEPCO cannot freeze enough and go down deep enough to freeze the aquifer.
If GE/TEPCO had disclosed all the facts at its disposal in March 2011, the people of Japan and the world would have turned with very great anger against GE/TEPCO
It is not an accident that the Abe government is re-turning Japan into the land of the Black Sun.

FWIW, CNu, regardless of their program content, TEDs are worth watching for anyone whose activities or profession requires making hard-hitting presentations, e.g. business folks, educators, engineers. TED speakers, for the most part are outstanding presenters and it's worth studying their respective styles to pickup on techniques for driving home points. These oral skills tend to be ignored, not taught in schools/universities except for possibly HS debate teams, As one parent to another, Am certain you have already done this, CNu, but just in case, would suggest explaining this to your kids and seeing that they get appropriate extracurricular guidance/tutelage in this area. Toastmasters clubs can help. You can be IQ-200 and relatively useless if you can't communicate well.......
nice OC, CNu. Happy 2014, old man!

Happy Green Wednesday and many even happier returns in the new year!!!
Glad to see light shed on the US side of the screwup. Even if we would like to blame Japan for our half of the fault, that's pointless. It will happen here too in our lifetimes.
Two related issues: "Following the revelation that The Department of Health and Human Services has ordered 14 million doses of potassium iodide to be available by no later then the first of February, it is easy to see that the same federal government responsible for silently raising the allowable limits of radiation in the food supply and turning off key radiation counters positioned in the west coast may now silently be preparing for a future Fukushima meltdown." http://bit.ly/1d1MzZ8

Brass balls. He's telling them they ain't shit to their faces. Somebody had to do it. Most Ted talkers may as well be tv preachers.
Prosperous and productive new year to you and family Les!
