Just think of a way to get some of the solar power to the engine of electric cars and we'll have a winner.
We would be a nation of full-scale slot cars.
Without the need for heavy engines on 18-wheelers these roads wouldn't have to withstand as much weight as our current roadways.

In my professional opinion, this is a technical circle-jerk of the highest magnitude. There are so many more effective means to improve our planet that this one will never fly. Never. We'll have auto-piloted personal vehicles before you'll ever see anything more than a VERY EXPENSIVE demonstration of this waste of resources.
