This is good stuff.... Very informative. Too bad people do not care enough to ever actual affect change in this regard. She says that 85% of the people agree that corporations have too much power... But I would guess that only about 5-10% of those people would actually do something about it. Even if that something is just as simple as showing up to the vote. It is kinda ridiculous and sad when you really think about it. That is the main reason I am getting sick of politics myself.. Not enough people care to get any real change done. Then we finally get a guy who captures everyones attention, and fires everybody up to make some changes, and what happens??... He turns out to be just as bought and sold as everybody else. (sigh)
Wizz, I heard a very interesting statistic the other day. U.S. college grads are alleged to be experiencing something close to 5% unemployment, it's the highschool grads who are experiencing 16%+levels of joblessness, and within that broad demographic, it's ethnic minority highschool grads who are probably most disproportionately catching it in the shins...,
A good question though is should we care? I do care because I'm an empathetic person and I come from and have family in that situation but should I? They are the silent majority.. They can have as much power as they want. They just have to inform themselves about what is going on and vote. That's it. Me and you can fight against banks, conservatives, CEOs, etc, etc... But if THEY don't vote then it means nothing.. I know the corporate owned media is all screwed up and helping to form their opinions... But in the age of the internet that is becoming less and less of an excuse... Get off Facebook and read some news people!... I mean seriously... We are talking about simple things here... You have conservatives giving out 800 billion in tax breaks, then come back and cut 40-50 billion in programs normal people need... It does not take a rocket scientist to know that does not add up and they don't really give a damn about the deficit... It is not hard to see that they were screaming jobs, jobs, jobs during the election and have introduced not one jobs related bill. And then you have Democrats who do not even fight for their principles at all.. Why? Because they are paid off too... Except they have not realized that they are being paid to be the Washington Generals to the conservative Harlem Globetrotters... As you can probably tell I'm pretty sick of it all. I will support the candidates that I know are good.. Screw the rest.
Wizz, rational self-interest dictates that we not only care about but that we also address this issue.
The unemployed, uneducated, and unmotivated are an ungovernable hot mess that will have to be dealt with either constructively or destructively. If you think DWB and profiling is a problem today, imagine what it will be like if the destructive approach is undertaken in earnest in the U.S. outside of the anti-immigrant/anti-muslim sphere which is the tip of the of amerinazi spear at this point in time?
