charleston attack was terrorism, straight up simple and plain...,

theatlantic |  By demanding that the Charleston church attack be dubbed terrorism even before key details were known, observers meant to assert some mix of other claims, including that even the earliest details of the attack very strongly suggested that it was rooted in racial hatred against blacks and white-supremacism; that the killer acted every bit as abhorrently as, say, the men who attacked the Boston marathon; that the black lives lost to this and other acts of white supremacist terrorism matter every bit as much as the lives lost on, say, September 11, 2001; that the press, the police, and politicians would’ve responded differently to this attack had it been perpetrated by a Muslim gunman; or that Charleston warrants a response in keeping with what follows attacks by Muslim terrorists.

Years ago, after an attack on a Sikh temple that’s mostly forgotten because it wasn't regarded as terrorism, I argued that the reluctance to apply the label to acts carried out by white people is partly due to an awareness of what might happen next. When terrorism is invoked, many Americans––Republicans especially––have assented to indefinite detention; the criminalization of gifts to certain charities; secret, extrajudicial assassinations; ethnicity-based surveillance; and the torture even of people who might know about a future attack. Having undermined so many civil-liberties protections in pursuit of terrorists, the white majority and Republicans especially are alarmed at the idea of the homeland-security bureaucracy treating them as they’ve treated Muslim Americans.

It was a Catholic priest that started the Moondragon Coop.

If a Muslim had gone into a church and killed 9 white worshippers, it wouild have been called "workplace violence" like the Fort Hood shooting where a Fuzzy stormed into a room shouting "alahu akbar" and shot 13 dead and wounded 32 more. Obama classified it "workplace violence," not terrorism. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/members-congress-demand-obama-administration-classify-ft-hood/story?id=18493746 "It is time for the administration to recognize the Fort Hood shooting for what it is—an act of terrorism," wrote Rep. Michael McCaul, R.-Texas, in a letter cosigned by Rep. Frank Wolf, R.-Virginia. "...the Department of Defense and the Army classify this attack [as] 'workplace violence,' despite mountains of evidence [that] clearly proves the Ft. Hood shooting was an act of terror." Good video....

Bro. Feed, I've come to realize and accept that your arcane and endlessly self-reinforcing belief system has effectively walled you off from new factual and procedural inputs - but for the benefit of others - will pretend that the enclosed link will be received by you as food for thought http://jayhanson.us/america.htm

Oh lucky me!!! I get a two-fer of irrelevant chindribble from the N-1 gallery...., um the work of Ft. Hood is to break things and kill people So..., I'm thinking, if somebody shows up at the fort and commences to breaking things and killing people, then he's doing Ft. Hood work in the Ft. Hood workplace.

This is terrorism, when you let a person live so they can tell others what happened, its for some greater purpose. He by his own claims wanted to start a race war. He was killing people he didn't know for a purpose. Clearly, in churches across the country, people will have in the back of their minds wondering if this is one of these people again. If a white person comes to your black church, there is going to be suspicions. Or even in any church suspicions of any new person will be more detailed than before. Because of his actions there will be copy cats and changes.

But also I think labeling this as terrorism will allow us to dig deeper on this guy's father gift of giving him a gun for his birthday. I don't want more gun laws, but if your're going to give someone a gun, a 45 caliber handgun, you should be a little more in tune with who you are giving it to, or the dark side maybe he knew who he was giving it to. I think that investigation needs to happen, and it should be public, to let us all understand you have responsibility in who you give a gun to.

Here is a guy, dropped out in 9th grade, his family called him overly introverted, just staying in his room, didn't have a driver's license at age 19.

They say he made a lot of racist jokes, but nobody took him seriously... yeah right, just a joker with novelty plates with confederate states and wearing apartheid era jacket Rhodesia rule on his facebook page and knowingly big into segregation. .."'He flat out told us he was going to do this stuff,' his friend Christon Scriven told the New York Daily News. But, he said, 'He’s weird. You don’t know when to take him seriously and when not to.'

His roommate Dalton Tyler told ABC News: 'He was big into segregation and other stuff. He said he wanted to start a civil war. He said he was going to do something like that and then kill himself.'

The statements were dismissed as another example of Roof's 'deadpan sense of humor'.

He was also doing prescription drugs and arrested for drug possession, and on another occasion banned from the mall for 1 year then for 3 years. So with all that daddy decides, I think its time my boy have a nice 45 caliber handgun for his birthday. I hope I know what my son is thinking better than this dad did, and I expect to. If I did know, I certainly wouldn't hand him a gun, give him a wink and say follow your dream's son, unless maybe they were mine too.

The work of Ft. Hood is to protect the country. However, today, your N-1_Boy said it's not Christian to own guns......

lol, YOU are an N-1 boy after publication of that lastrhodesian mess. The pope said arms manufacturers shouldn't fix their deceitful mouths to claim christianity.

TERRORIST - defined:

One who can get more people to LOOK PAST the common DESTRUCTIVE ACTIONS of two potential groups who perform "Destructive Acts" and AGREE that THE OTHER GUY is a "Terrorist" and thus THEIR GUY'S actions are JUSTIFIED

So are you saying that the recently voiced support for the Catholic church by:
* Raul Castro
* Al Gore
* Amy Goodman

...................ALL IN RESPONSE to "Worldly" policy change pronouncements that were viewed as PROGRESSIVE should not be viewed from the perspective of voices who previously condemned "conservative religious dogma" in the church being driven by IDEOLOGY rather than SUBMISSION TO "GOD'S WILL", as informed through religion?

At this specific moment, Cuba exemplifies what is doable. One would imagine, (if one supposed you sincere) that you would have seized upon Cuba as a poster child for organic community competence development. It's a good thing we know that 99% of what you write is insincere.

Dylann Roof should be charged federally as a terrorist His planning and
use of murder as a political tool, along with his murder of an elected official - place his status as a terrorist beyond any legal doubt.

“terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.

While "clandestine agent" is a very broad term. An easy to ask question is how would someone could not be a clandestine agent? "I called the police first before doing it?" 'I took out an add in the local paper first?"

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts could have tried the Boston Bomber and sentenced him to life without parole. However the Federal Government came in and took
control and brought somewhere around 40 charges many carrying the death penalty. Convicted of all charges he is now on Federal Death Row. Dylann Roof deserves equal justice. If he is charged and convicted federally he will only get federal appeals and state judges can't screw things up. Federal terrorism charges should not be for the foreign born only.
