The problem with swordfighting games is the perspective. If you do first person view, you do not have the physics beyond the flat 180 angle (which is really like 120) in front of you. Then in third person view, you can move around at perspectives like facing the screen flank against the wall and computer gaming physics are physically limiting from making any swings.
My suggestion is combo codes hit up,down+front+left+left for a cool 25 tsunami strike!!!!
Ed, I've thought a lot about the perspective thing. I wonder if having some "peripheral vision" stuff at the edges of the screen would help. Show the 120 degrees normal, then go another 45 or 60 degrees each side of that, blurred and smushed down into a thin bar at the edge of the screen. Enough that if somebody's cracking me on the side of the head, I have some kind of indication ahead of time.
Streetfighter II worked awfully well with the six buttons. The closest I've seen. I spent too many quarters and too many all-nighters playing that one back in the 1990s.
I can't get behind this at all. Really. I don't see anything cool coming out of this. Yes, yes, cute video, but, really a better version of WoW? Some variant to Kinect or Wii? Want me to get behind something? How about a really cheap, good hearing aid? Or maybe an iPhone or Anroid app that is a really cheap, really good hearing aid? You'd make billions at that, with all those ear-damaged hard-rockin' Boomers out there.
C'mon John - get into the collapse-arian vision going on here already!!! This is a nearly perfect utility for easing millions into the Bugei http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugei_j%C5%ABhappan mentality and preparation required to usher in zero population growth like that enjoyed throughout the centuries of the Edo period.
Can you even imagine how many asshats will bite the dust quick, fast, and in a hurry http://youtu.be/DHRwo48twyE once that's all re-established as a cultural baseline? sheeeeeiiiiittt......, I can't even wait for this thing to take off like a rocket.

I may have to. It sounds really cool.
