essence has no rights absolute capitalism is bound to acknowledge?

Quadrant |  Despite warnings by moral conservatives, advances in genetics and reproductive technology have created the conditions for a consumer-driven mass eugenics industry. Like it or not, science has is about to pose a slather of moral, ethical and societal dilemmas

A legal, social and biological revolution is taking place worldwide without much serious thinking of the consequences. Consider this: in Britain the House of Commons recently approved the use of “three-parent IVF” to remove defective mitochondrial DNA from babies.[1]

Each year in Britain about 100 children are born with mutated mitochondrial DNA, resulting in about ten cases of fatal disease to the liver, nerves or heart. A new in vitro fertilisation (IVF) technique developed at the University of Newcastle allows doctors to replace a mother’s defective mitochondrial DNA with that of a healthy donor, presumably using pre-implantation sequencing and microscopic operation on the zygote. Mitochondrial DNA does not affect appearance, personality or intelligence, and it reduces kinship—genetic similarity—by only about 1 per cent. Still, the resulting child, though its nuclear DNA would come from its main parents, would have three parents.

Critics warned that this would set society off down a slippery slope to eugenics and “designer babies”. A government official, the “British Fertility Regulator”, replied to this warning with the observation that most people support the therapy. This was intended to assuage the concerns expressed. In fact it would seem to confirm them, since widespread support for a product or service indicates a readiness to adopt it. Sure enough, though there had been little public discussion in advance of the Commons debate, the new techniques were nonetheless approved by a large parliamentary majority. Australian scientists have since called for the British policy to be emulated.[2]

Despite half a century of warnings by moral conservatives, advances in genetics and reproductive technology have created the conditions for a consumer-driven mass eugenics industry. Here is the Oxford dictionary definition of “Eugenics”: “the science of improving a population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics”. It has a bad historical reputation because authoritarian governments have denied civil liberties in the name of eugenics. But as we shall see, both the definition and the reputation of eugenics have been overtaken by advances in science, medicine and marketing. Eugenics has since reappeared in many countries in the form of voluntary genetics counselling—a medical service provided to help parents avoid genetic disorders in their children[3]; and IVF has become a sizeable industry that offers parents the genetic screening of embryos and other eugenic choices.

Genetic improvement is becoming a market phenomenon—a situation discernible as long ago as the 1980s when Daniel Kevles, the leading historian of eugenics in the USA, quoted a biotechnology expert thus: “‘Human improvement’ is a fact of life, not because of the state … but because of consumer demand.”[4]

Brother CNu - Having recently told a woman at a local gas station as I was about to put air in my truck tires: "THE AIR IS STILL FREE, its the compressor and the electricity to run it that they want to charge $1 for". I then left and drove down to QuickTrip where the electricity is free.

On the matter of unpaid water bills in Detroit leading to service shut offs I MAINTAIN

* NO ONE is denying anyone access to Water in Detroit.
* IT IS ONLY a change in the SERVICE LEVEL / STANDARD OF LIVING - where water comes out of your tap in your house
* Detroit Water Department - PUMPS water from its source (equipment & electricity), SANITIZES the water (chemicals, process, workers, testing), DISTRIBUTES water through its water towers and pipeline network (capital infrastructure and workers), CUSTOMER SERVICES (billing, web site and HR services for their employees)

THIS HAS NO DAMNED CORRELATION TO "CULTURAL DARWINISM".
I have more respect for some African cultures in which women are forced to go to the natural water source in order to carry water on their head so their family can survive THAN I DO with SOME American women would not let YOU TOUCH HER HAIR, let alone carry something that is necessary to keep her family nourished.

THOSE WHO WANT TO MAINTAIN THE STANDARD OF LIVING FOR POOR DETROIT RESIDENTS should do 2 things:
* PAY A LUMP SUM OF MONEY TO THE DETROIT WATER DEPARTMENT for it to be applied to their ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES

* Tell the PEOPLE that the next time someone comes into their community promising that their VOTE will lead to their SALVATION...................throw that Ninja off of the tall bridge that goes to Windsor!!!

NO SIR!!!

1) IF YOU VALUE A STANDARD OF LIVING AND WANT TO LIFT "YOUR PEOPLE" UP TO THIS LEVEL
2) DEFINE WHO "YOUR PEOPLE" ARE (THE STAKEHOLDERS)
3) LEVERAGE THE POWER OVER THE INSTITUTIONS THAT YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE PEOPLE TO BECOME THE 'SERVICE PROVIDERS' THAT WILL PROVIDE THIS UPLIFT

4) EXPAND THIS CIRCLE OF INTEREST OUTWARD TO NEW LANDS IN WHICH THEY TOO NEED STRUCTURE

YOUR ENEMY ARE THOSE WHO DISASSEMBLE THE CULTURE AND INSTITUTIONS THROUGH WHICH THE PEOPLE BUILD UP THEMSELVES, FUSING THEM TO A WAGON THAT IS NOT GOING TO TAKE THEM TO WHERE THEY NEED TO BE.

While I was probating my grandparent's wills here, I was sued by my cousins. All access to estate and personal funds were frozen and seized. I could collect rent but I had to deposit the checks in an account from which I had no access to funds. My water got turned off and after about a week it got tough. But that year happened to be the rainiest year in a long time. After a month I challenged myself to live a year with no money in order to better understand the hardships of my tenants. I lived for a year without running water, gas, phone or electricity. In the end, I had less compassion because even with little to no resources I was doing more for most of them than they were willing to do for themselves.

lol, why you fussin Feed?!?! Take the caps lock off your keyboard Feed. Even UBJ has weighed in on this thread to the effect that these ashy-assed mentholated motor city miscreants bout to be austeritized to the standard that they deserve.

Now pass the popcorn and bring me a cold beer when you go get yourself one.

Absolute capitalism is a hard conductor for the Overture to Musical Chairs on the Deck of the Titanic....,

Focus CNu!
FOCUS!!!

You said "The Standard They DESERVE"

This to me points to YOUR reference to some 3rd Party Authority who is SUPERIOR to their own ability to operate as an interdependent system, which matches:
* The Desire For The 'Standard Of Living' - and the accouterments that are manifest their in
* The RESOURCES that are the commodity consumables
* The SYSTEMS that form the logistics to provide ready access to the aforementioned resources
* The ECONOMICS that pay for the Labor, The Equipment, The Fuels, The Liabilities

Do you see, My Friend CNu - you are too prone to be appeased by Dale Asberry - than you are in seriously inspecting your own ideology and how it requires certain actors to play certain rules.

Over the past few days you have introduced an "8th Dimension" in our scientific discussion, one called "The Absolute Capitalist".

My only question is: WHO IS CHARGED with determining the quantity of MOLES (physics unit of measure) contained in an "Absolute Capitalist" versus an "Inferior Capitalist"?

My Good Man, UBJ:

Your lessons learned are not lost on me, HOWEVER.................

Why did you believe it important for YOU to relate to a poor tenant WHEN YOU ARE NOT POOR?

Why wasn't it more important for you to TAKE A CHILD OF AN IMPOVERISHED PARENT(S) and show him how you remain UNPOOR based upon your thoughts and repetitive behavior?

FOR ME - I prefer the INDUCTIVE UPWARD PULL of someone showing me "How They Did It" so, in their manifestation in the form of a PERSON who is before me - I can be made confident that I too can walk the same path as he.

This to me points to YOUR reference to some 3rd Party Authority who is
SUPERIOR to their own ability to operate as an interdependent system,
which matches:I did. I took my cue from the 3rd Party Authority of UBJ - who - like Ed Dunn - I've noted to your attention as exemplars of on the ground engagement whose example you might wish to emulate.

I believe it's you sir who needs to focus. As things presently stand, there are two broad umbrella camps of absolute capitalist engagement with the American political economy.

1. Violent Absolute Capitalists represented by the resource extraction industrialist Kochtopus.
2. Gradual Absolute Capitalists represented by the bankster cartel still intent on sucking thin margins on dangerously and artificially leveraged consumer yields.

The former would gleefully liquidate 200 million or so of your fellow head of food-powered, make work hierarchy livestock, while the latter want to simply continue contracting and leveraging and prolonging the collective misery on the deck of the Titanic. As for a unit of absolute capitalist molarity, I'd offer up the $1Billion entry fee which in the end will be closer to $3Billion total required to purchase and control the office of the U.S. president.

Anyone outside that sphere is strictly operating on the inferior capitalist level of the game.

@CF - Why. Because there was a need. When I first moved here I thought I could change a city. After a while I realized that even many of it's Black 'leaders' were still in the acquisitive and aspirational stages so (by happenstance) I started at the bottom. (BTW - I DID take two boys from their homes in a Bernie Mac show type of situation. But that is another story.)
Why be poor? Why do people go on missions and live among and learn from the locals? One cannot help someone with whom they cannot even communicate. Why does every religious leader (And no, I'm not talking about today's motivational speakers but the founders of religions.) walk the walk of his followers?
I used one of my duplexes as an office. One side was used for storage while the other side was used; to tutor kids, to run a food pantry, to run a job training program in the construction trades, to administer a community garden and to run day-to-day issues dealing with my rental houses. I wasn't shouting orders, I was doing the work with the people while paying for everything myself. After 14 years I decided to shake the dust from my feet and focus my few remaining resources elsewhere. I've given away more than 20 homes, had eleven burned down by homeless people (I allowed them to stay in my empty units during cold weather) and the rest are occupied by people at reduced rent ( reduced from $500 or $600 a month to as little as $75 a month) to those who do not receive government housing assistance.
Honestly, I'm through with this demographic every night but then I wake up and see another need. I even had to acquire a nightclub to pay for my philanthropy.

What are the fruits of your work, Feed?

Constructive_Feedback said...

1) Violent Absolute Capitalist - INDUSTRIAL MAGNATE
2) Gradual Absolute Capitalist - FINANCIAL SERVICES OPERATIVE

SO AGAIN - I challenge your veracity of the MODEL that you build through which the HUMAN BEING references this world.

* CULTURAL Capitalists - Have people's "Perception Of The 'Room Temperature' Of What Is Normal / Permissible over time and through Generational inculcation

* RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONAL Capitalists - MANIPULATING the religious institutional tentacles to achieve a certain end (both with VERACITY to the original intent of "God" - but worse, MOLESTING these commands for Earthly political and monetary gain - as you give the people a sense of SATISFACTION that they are 'Doing The Command Of Their God' )

You crying over your kith and kin about to get suspended? No pot shots were taken at the Seattle PD. If you didn't notice, those were two WHITE programmers - the epitome of FTO - complaining about illegitimate police force and using their mad skilz to make the SPD pay for their irresponsible behavior.

The reason that post originally appeared on Subrealism was to call whimpering weepy attention to those "hated abusive 'overseers'."

The police have a tough job to do preventing Seattle from becoming the next Detroit/Baltimore/Philly/etc. So far, they have been pretty much successful keeping the destructive Thug75 element under control. It does, however, require sometimes seriously kicking asses. BD is just thankful there are people willing to do the job.

The griping and criminal charging in Baltimore has so intimidated police, they can no longer do their job effectively. Murder rate has doubled since Freddie. You want that for *your* area...??

The roof over my head that is yet again tonight being used as a layover for one of my wife's friend's child who is a college student traveling inbound to Atlanta from an international location and then outbound to a summer internship.

But most of all, my good man Dale: THE FACT THAT I AM BLESSED WITH A KEEN SENSE OF DISCERNMENT as i carefully WATCH everything that is going on in this nation and am AMAZED that people are so blinded by their bigotry, hatred and opportunism to SEE all that is converging around them.
