The "preps" recommendations a couple minutes from the end omitted the most important items: Acquire yourself a fortress with lots of guns and ammo. When TSHTF those who don't have critical resources will be coming after those who do. It's already started - today's Drudge has an item on "punched" auto gas tanks...
Fine as far as it goes, but a lot of libertarian sci fi addicts are going to discover that organized groups of 100 or 1,000 people with sensible firearms are going to do whatever they like to antisocial hermits waving lovingly-acquired internet "shooting" supplies like weird-caliber handguns, shotguns with laser sights, and other non-real-world ordinance.

Now that depends. The bad guys aren't fighting for some political ideal, where assaults will be in Korean-War-style suicide waves at the urging of a national command. This will be different, with each "participant" basically looking out for survival of his own ass. As soon as some of an attacking group go down, the rest might figure screw this target, let's go find greener pastures with no resistance. In any case you're light years better off than those folks with no preps - those are the dumbest MFers of all....
Read some of the Armed Citizen stories in the NRA publications. The bad guys generally run like hell when a citizen fires the first shot at them - sometimes just the display of a gun is sufficient...

lol, BD is seriously confused if he imagines that the extremity of killer-ape survival requirements are trumped by fighting for "political ideals"? Not only that, he has paid no attention what.so.ever to the recorded experiences of survivors of the comparatively recent Argentinian economic collapse.

Fighting for political ideals - the Korean enemy troops didn't give a rip about political ideals, they would be shot by their own superiors if they didn't charge forth on command. TSHTF aggressors have other choices/options. Stayin' alive and minimizing risk are paramount in a SHTF environment....
