With better packaging I could see these selling at Home Depot or Lowes in the garden section as 'lighting' for storage sheds.

I'd go with some found, clear glass bottles, or wire cut me a portion of a glass bottle (do you remember the 1970's do it yourself kit for making wine glasses out of discarded bottles?) - dood I had one'them jawns and worked it to death.
Also been thinking about some form of double concave/convex hot pot/hot plate set-up using cheap magnifying glass or mirrors - instantly put me in mind of this country boy ingenuity (clever by half) isht right'chere: http://youtu.be/thbSSuo1Z00
